It is time to assess whether the stated performance of new processors for the MacBook Pro are really better than the previous processor. The entire line of MacBook Pro 15 and 17-inch mount no more than an Intel Core 2 Duo but an Intel Core i7 i5 or by model. We tested them both and compared with the previous processors.
The first test was a challenge of speed in the opening time of 15 applications that are part of the package Mac OS X and iLife. This process very much stress on the computer and then see what is the best processor that can support all these programs.
It would be practically certain that the new processors are placed at the top, but that is not so. In fact, the MacBook Pro 17 "Core 2 Duo 2.80 GHz processor takes 37.8 seconds while the Core i7 and Core 38 39.5 i5, all other processors are slower. The result is not that bad but certainly not positive, it was expected that these processors were much faster, but this challenge is not so.
But do not worry, Apple makes a lot of publicity about how these processors are good support for professional graphics. For example with Photoshop, a processor i5 is 16% faster than a Core 2 Duo. And the Core i7 is 12% faster than a Core i5. The same is true with a program like Aperture, Cinebench R10 for 3D, QuickTime. On average, a new processor (2.4 GHz Core i5) is 15% faster than an old processor (Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz).
