Notebook Samsung NP-R590 Full Review

Currently there are two options for the Samsung R590. The Holest R590 (NP-R590-JS01DE), available from 750 euros. As the name suggests, is used as a processor i3-330M Core Intel, with two cores with a 2.13 GHz clock, however, better equipped, and already reviewed i5-450M Hava R590 (NP-R590-JS0YDE) can be bought for 900 euros. Samsung has adopted the new name Core i5-450M in this case. Has a higher clock rate of 2.40 GHz and an automatic overclocking function (Turbo Boost). While the less expensive model features a standard DVD burner, Samsung has included a more expensive BluRay player.

In return, the display and RAM are the same in both models. The 15.6-inch display has a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. In addition, the R590 has 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (2 x 2048 MB) a model of mid-range Nvidia, the GeForce 330M GT , deals with the graphics. Finally, as Windows 7 operating system will find Home Premium.

Homes

The case dell'R590 compares favorably with the competition. The plastic surfaces are glossy dark blue, which looks more attractive than the red of the Samsung R580 . There is little to complain about in terms of stability. The base unit is quite solid on both sides, except the vicinity of the drive. On the other hand, the cover of the laptop flexes more easily. But what is common to most laptops currently. In addition to the special design, implementation really impresses. All components are in place and not see the slightest smear. However, the zippers do not work perfectly. Because of the very strong attachment, when you open the laptop is necessary to maintain the base with one hand. In return, there are no problems during transport since the display is closed. With a weight of 2.6 kg and dimensions of 380 x 256 x 39 mm, the Samsung R590 is not heavy or bulky.

Performance

Processor is used as the brand new Intel Core i5-450M . The dual core processor, represents a mix of Core i5-430m and 520m-Core i5 . The relationship with the Core i5-520m is based on the same clock rate of 2.40 GHz Core i5 How-430m, the processor has no support for the new instructions "AES" and "VT-d, which however have little influence on a daily use. The Turbo Boost feature provides a moderate overclock of about 260 MHz while the Core i5-430m goes up to 2.53 GHz in this way, the Core i5-450M comes with a clock up to 2.66 GHz.

Display 

The user pays the price for the classic display. Samsung has opted for a resolution of 1366x768 pixels standard for its 15.6 inches. This may be fine for average consumers, but often if you work with multiple windows, you will want an early resolution of 1600x900 type. 

Connectivity

Connectivity can be defined as good. Samsung has the most connections on the left. For the pleasure of annoying right-hander and left-handers. Keyboard

Inputs give a good but not exceptional impression. Starting from the keyboard has separate buttons (15 x 15 mm) and a feasible layout. Touchpad

The touchpad has an appropriate size of 75 x 45 mm. Although the touchpad is the same color of houses and slightly lowered, it is easy to locate with your fingers. On the one hand, Samsung has made the touchpad with a slightly textured surface that appears after a little rough and makes moderate fluency. There are small dots on the four ends that light up during use ensuring a good optical feedback. The precision does not give cause for criticism. The vertical scroll function that comes close to downtown, easy to use after a little 'practice. The reliable multi-touch functions (scroll, zoom and rotation) are other strengths dell'R590. Both touchpad buttons that come together in a continuous bar could have a longer stroke.

Battery

Overall Assessment

With the R590, Samsung launches primarily a portable multimedia, which has no particular weaknesses, but neither particular strengths. The good performance is to be mentioned among the strengths. Applications run properly thanks to dual-core Intel, the Core i5-450M . Games also have no problems in native 1366x768 resolution, thanks to the Nvidia GeForce 330M GT , although not always powerful enough for maximum detail and quality. However the Samsung R590 is ideal for real players, as the GeForce 330M GT and very far from high-level graphics cards like the Radeon HD 5870 .

Another strong point is the elegant houses, which soon becomes dirty, but it stands out compared to competitors with a delicate texture and its color dark blue. The layout is impressive. Especially like the BlueRay drive in movies.

However, the display again shows how weak point. The combination of contrast content, high value of the black and narrow viewing angles limiting the movies, and games. The moderate sound quality does not deserve an explanation. Judgement on temperature and noise, however, is inconclusive. While the R590 is very warm and makes no noise under load, the situation is reversed when the work increases. Finally, input devices, such as adequate autonomy, are located in medium-high.
